Set in 28 acres of glorious grounds in the beautiful Stour Valley, Littlegarth offers the ideal environment for children between the ages of 2½ and 11 to begin their exciting educational journey of discovery. Littlegarth is a co-educational Charitable Trust School which was founded in 1940 in Dedham and moved to Horkesley Park in 1994. Membership of IAPS and ISA helps to ensure that the children are provided with a thorough and successful all-round education in a warm, caring and secure environment.

Littlegarth boasts a flourishing Nursery which prepares the children carefully for admission to the Pre-Prep, although children are able to join the school at any age, subject to availability. A well-qualified team of Early Years staff combined with specialist teaching in French, drama, music and sport from Nursery age helps to ensure that children develop key skills across a range of activities from an early age.

Success breeds confidence and a determination to succeed in those activities that children find more difficult. Our outstanding results at 11+ for entry to local grammar and independent senior schools highlight the pleasing record of success that Littlegarth children have achieved in recent years.

We pride ourselves in providing an excellent all-round education with a particular focus on developing a passion for the core subjects. The staff team work closely to provide an individualised programme of learning for each child and to achieve this goal, our relationships with parents are strong and mutually supportive.

In the Pre-Prep, specialist class teachers and teaching assistants nurture the enthusiasm of each child so that they are confident enough to develop their academic skills. As children move through the school, subject specialist teachers provide inspiration across the curriculum and in 2017, six new classrooms, a large library and IT room and purpose built art, music, drama and learning support facilities will further enhance the outstanding specialist facilities of the school.

An excellent Sports Hall and expansive outdoor sports facilities have helped the school to build an outstanding reputation for sporting success and our four acre woodland incorporating an outdoor stage for performing arts provides the ideal outdoor environment for Forest School and a wide variety of other outdoor learning experiences!

An extensive range of after-school clubs, combined with numerous school trips provide further opportunities to build on the children's love for learning. For further details please visit our website or visit us to see just what makes Littlegarth so special.
