Manor Lodge enjoys an excellent reputation for modern facilities, beautiful grounds, a creative curriculum, well qualified and caring teachers, high academic standards, innovative and exciting expressive arts, wide-ranging sporting opportunities for all and confident, articulate children who are a joy to share time with. We pride ourselves in maintaining a warm, supportive atmosphere in which every individual child is allowed to blossom academically, artistically and socially at an appropriate pace as part of an inclusive family. Whatever their talents, and every child has unique gifts, we will find and nurture them and everyone’s success is celebrated.
The school works in close partnership with parents where open dialogue is encouraged and regular meetings take place to review every aspect of a child's development. Our belief is that if a child is happy, valued and supported, they will learn and grow in all respects and thus be suitably prepared for life beyond Manor Lodge. A typical MLS child, as described by local secondary school heads, is articulate, confident, with good study habits and skills and is quick to involve themselves in all aspects of school life.
Our sports teams have achieved considerable success locally as well as at county and national level. We host our own annual tournaments as well as competing in many local and national events on top of an active fixture list with all the South Herts/North London Prep Schools. Manor Lodge children also regularly enter art, prose and science exhibitions and competitions winning many awards.
Manor Lodge children are highly active in raising money for local, national and international charities. They also love to share their talents with senior citizens in retirement homes at Christmas.
We organise over 60 clubs and activities for the children. The music department runs three choirs, plus a community choir, a full orchestra, a jazz band and ensembles, performing in concerts and musical theatre productions. Manor Lodge is proud of its tradition of children performing and it is our belief that it complements and enriches the academic side of school life.
The school is proud of its record in achieving over twenty scholarships to local secondary schools in each of the past fifteen years with our current record standing at 50 in one year. On average over 95% of parents obtain their first choice of school on secondary transfer.
Always seeking to enhance our facilities and improve the experience for our children, we have recently completed an impressive new performing arts/sports hall and teaching block which is now providing a 400 seater theatre/sports hall, dance studio, drama workshop, music teaching rooms, music practice rooms and three Year 6 classrooms. Right alongside is an all-weather artificial grass pitch which provides a suitable surface for netball, hockey and football as well as a large space for playtimes. These new facilities complement the long established listed building, modern teaching block, dining room, extensive playing fields and sports pavilion.
If you are looking for a school with a true family atmosphere where children feel loved, safe and appreciated for who they are, where there are high academic standards and wonderful opportunities to develop artistic and sporting interests to last a lifetime, then Manor Lodge might just be the school for you.
