Inspiring a love of reading at Churcher's College

Posted on 13th Nov 2017 in School News

Senior School First Years have been enthralled to discover new books and authors as Churcher's College took part in the Bookbuzz initiative by the Book Trust.

Bookbuzz is a reading programme that aims to help schools inspire a love of reading in Year 7 and 8 students.

It involves giving pupils the opportunity to choose their own book to take home and keep for free from a list of 17 titles suitable for 11 to 13-year-olds.They are all carefully selected by a panel of experts to ensure quality and suitability. This year's titles included The Croc and the Sock, Fuzzy Mud and Girl on a Plane (a particularly popular one with our pupils).

The chosen books arrived at the beginning of November and our first years didn't waste a minute sitting down to delve into them!

The school also recieved 2 sets of the Bookbuzz books for the school library so even more pupils can enjoy the books for years to come. Thank you to the Book Trust for this wonderful initiative.
