Ashford School, founded in 1898 has a reputation for excellence and academic achievement. We offer adventurous learning opportunities for children from 3 months to 18 years, with our Nursery School being situated in the heart of Ashford Town, just a stone’s throw from Ashford International, our Prep-School being situated in the neighboring leafy village of Great Chart and our Senior School and Sixth Form, in Ashford town centre. We are currently building a second brand new Nursery School which will be called The Stables Nursery in Great Chart which is due to open in 2019.
Why Ashford School?
Parents choose Ashford School for many reasons: we achieve high academic success; we work very closely with our pupils giving close attention to the needs of the individual; our class sizes; our challenging and supportive environment; our wide range of co-curricular activities; and our energetic, specialist teachers. We pride ourselves in selecting highly capable adults who are experts from a variety of backgrounds. For example, we have a former barrister, nuclear scientist and Reuters financial journalist as part of our teaching staff.
Of profound importance to us are the wider learning opportunities we provide. Our extensive co-curricular programme enables our students to grow in confidence, stand out from the crowd and perform well in interviews. We currently have over 70 co-curricular activities on offer from Amnesty International, Badminton and Chamber Choir, to Debating, Fencing, Food Studies, Golf, Pentathlon and Young Enterprise.
Facilities at Ashford School include a new sports centre, 2 x indoor swimming pools, an AstroTurf for hockey, football, netball and tennis, all-weather netball, basketball and tennis courts, gyms, specialist art, design technology, ICT and science labs, a well-stocked learning centre, a student café and atrium, a dining hall, pupil common rooms, playing fields and playgrounds for cricket, football and rugby, an auditorium and theatre, and a music school with several performance areas. We are an all-Steinway School, meaning our Senior School music department has only Steinway pianos.
We offer a number of scholarships to students entering into Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12. These are awarded on the basis of a number of assessments and are highly competitive. Scholarships available include: Academic, Sport, Art and DT, Drama and Music. More information on our scholarships can be found on our website www.ashfordschool.co.uk/fees
