Thriving at Claremont means welcoming you as you are, empowering you to find your own unique path to your best, and supporting you in reaching it, then bettering it.

Claremont Senior School and Sixth Form

Founded in 2011, Claremont Senior School is situated in the heart of historic Bodiam, famous for its picturesque 14th Century castle. With 'student voice' at its heart, the school has an unrelenting focus on attitude and activism as the central pillars of its holistic educational philosophy and offers a dynamic learning environment where young people consistently say they can be themselves. Never before has there been so many career paths, university courses and avenues for teenagers to explore, as the forces of technological change transform our world. By presenting students with challenge, opportunity and experimentation the school seeks to give them the confidence to fulfil their individual potential and face their futures with self-assurance, optimism and a boundless drive to be the best version of themselves. Relaxed, but ambitious and rigorous in approach, Claremont is a local school with an international perspective. It is a special place to work and a unique place to learn.

An extensive extra curricular, enrichment and service programme recognises that, for many young people, the greatest learning experiences can come from outside the classroom. The Co Curricular programme is inspired by the eight core skills valued by universities, apprenticeship courses and ultimately future careers, with the aim of giving students opportunities to explore new talents as well as become masters of the things they love.

Student outcomes are outstanding with over 90% of Sixth Form students able to access their first choice of university, of which a third are Russell Group institutions.

Claremont has been judged 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in its last 3 consecutive inspections and in October 2021, was named Independent School of the Year for the Performing Arts.

'Being able to prepare young people for Maths degrees at Harvard as effectively as for Fashion courses in London is something all our staff are deeply proud of.' Ed Dickie, Head of Senior School

Claremont Prep School

Founded in 1925, Claremont Prep is a magical place to learn and grow. It's a joyful environment where children feel happy, secure and valued, where they further skills and knowledge and start to learn to adapt to the ever changing demands of the modern world. The school is based in rural St Leonards just 5 miles from the seaside and surrounded by over 100 acres of wonderful grounds to include extensive sports and playing fields and a locally renowned cross county track, alongside some truly magnificent woodlands. The main house is steeped in history, with curious winding corridors and beautiful spaces to learn in. There is even an icehouse hidden in the forest.

In lessons, the approach to learning is all about 'getting better', that it is good to aim high and there are no limits to furthering skills and knowledge in and outside the classroom. Many teachers are secondary school trained so are very knowledgeable about senior school life and how best to prepare children for GCSEs and all the challenges and opportunities that come with this next crucial stage in their education. All this, whilst nurturing an environment of friendship and kindness where children can most definitely still be children.

Green Flag and BBC Young Reporter School status

The Prep School holds the much coveted Green Flag and BBC Reporter school status. The children write and publish an award-winning student magazine, called The Arrow. The school is one of the first (if not the first) schools to have its own Eco Store.
