Located in leafy South Croydon on the outskirts of Surrey, but 20 minutes by train to London Bridge, Cumnor House School provides a high quality all round education for boys. We follow 'The Cumnor Way' that subscribes to those timeless values that embrace good manners, courtesy, self-respect, respect for others, and a sense of duty and responsibility. We challenge our boys to take risks in order to discover that the seemingly impossible can be achieved.
Our excellent ISI inspection in 2017, with comments ranging from 'the quality of the pupils' academic and other achievements is excellent. Pupils exhibit a deep love of learning and are highly motivated.' Our boys are successful throughout their journey at Cumnor House School, we believe strongly in the lessons of teamwork and personal achievements, this is evident in multiple achievements within Music, Sport and the Arts at all levels. Our Nursery children receive an outstanding introduction to their education in an exciting, stimulating and creative environment; with the added benefits of our main school staff supporting developments in sports, music and the arts.
In order for our boys to make a smooth transition from nursery to reception, our boys' reception class is located in the gated Webb estate, Purley, providing a secure, nurturing start to their education. Our dedicated Pre-Prep team focus on the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics and start to identify talents and wider learning interests amongst our pupils. Upon entering our Prep school, our pupils have the opportunity to discover and develop their talents in Sports, Music, and the Arts, as well as receiving a broad and balanced academic curriculum. Our Upper School as well as continuing an all-round development of our boys we focus on tailoring the curriculum to our pupils' academic ability, in order to give them the best preparation for entrance into the senior school of their choice, at either 11+ or at 13+.
At Cumnor House School, we are proud of our sporting achievements (currently voted as one of the top 50 prep schools in the UK for cricket by The Cricketer 2019). Our dedicated sports staff and wonderful sporting facilities offer the opportunity for all our boys to develop their teamwork skills. Pupils have the prospect to tour overseas to play sport in diverse locations, such as Dubai, South Africa and the West Indies. These valuable experiences give our boys the opportunities to explore new cultures and life outside the classroom.
We pride ourselves on our music curriculum, with all boys in Year 3 onwards receiving a curriculum based in peripatetic one on one lesson with music teachers using a variety of instruments. Our choirs and instrumental ensembles have all experienced formal and informal concerts, including our yearly choir tour and have performed across Europe and at the Royal Opera House.

Our Open Mornings run throughout the year and we also offer the opportunity for personal tours. We provide taster days for registered applicants to give your child the opportunity to experience 'Life at Cumnor', this will take the form of classroom lessons, sport, music and an informal meeting with the Head.
