Elmhurst is more than a school. It is a community who come together for the good of the pupils and work tirelessly to support them in their endeavours; something we have been doing for over 150 years. Many of our pupils continue to visit us and even rejoin the community as parents, such is the warmth and affection that the school holds. Today we focus on nurturing the brilliance in every boy through partnerships, inspiring spaces and a focus on what is best for boys.

From our youngest pupils in our Little Elms nursery, staff encourage curious, brave and determined learners to blossom. Little Elms' pupils benefit from contact with specialist teachers in Art, Music, IT, Drama and French which ensures the boys are very much a part of the school. Routines are established that continue throughout their time here and this builds a familiarity supporting pupils' transition at each stage. Parent partnerships are formed and continuity between home and school approaches, optimises learning.

As a boys' school, we understand the importance of a curriculum with literacy at its heart, driving a love of reading and learning. We also value each individual, provide a broad, challenging curriculum to enable pupils to thrive and to support each boy in his preparations for 11+ entry to local grammar and independent schools.

Sport, Drama and outdoor learning together with Art and Music ensure life at Elmhurst is always varied and performance opportunities plentiful. Boys are encouraged to take part in a range of activities through our curriculum and extensive extra-curricular clubs programme.

Responsibility too is encouraged. Our eldest pupils are asked to buddy up with our nursery pupils, writing to them to introduce themselves at the start of the year and then meeting up with them weekly for lunch and spending play times together throughout the term. These relationships are beneficial to both the older and younger pupils and become a very important part of their school life. School voice is active in Elmhurst and our school council meets regularly to feedback ideas and feelings about the community. In a similar way, our active parents association come together to share ideas with the Head and collectively ambitious school development plans are shaped.

As part of the Bellevue family of schools, we have the additional opportunity to take part in group wide initiatives and our Y6 debaters are often successful in the Prep School debating competition amongst other things. As an ISA school, we are regular participants in regional and national sports competitions, with many of our teams and pupils enjoying great success on the sporting front.
