Fairfield Prep School is a top-performing, independent school for boys and girls aged 3-11. It is part of the Loughborough Schools Foundation which is a charity committed to providing an education to cherish through a Nursery and four high achieving schools: The Grammar School for boys, The High School for girls and The Amherst School, a non-selective co-education school. Uniquely the schools share a beautiful campus and exceptional resources in many fields including music, STEM and sport.

Originally founded in 1929 as part of Loughborough High School, Fairfield Prep became an autonomous school within the Foundation in 1969. It is now a flourishing school of over 500 pupils and is perfectly situated to provide a first-class 21st Century Primary education.

A new chapter for each child

Fairfield Prep School is committed to the development of every pupil; the priority is to ensure that each child enjoys and benefits from their time at the school. That means a friendly and supportive community and endless exciting experiences, all backed by high academic standards.

Every pupil at Fairfield has many opportunities to thrive and to find a passion for things that matter to them. Therefore, success and achievement are both found through the inspiring and lively academic environment, as well as numerous co-curricular activities which take place outside the classroom.

Fairfield was judged 'Excellent' across all eight categories by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in both 2016 and 2021 and has been 'Highly Commended' in the Most Creative Learning Through Play category by the judges at the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Awards 2023. Pupils move onto the next stage of their educational journey within the Foundation as happy, confident and well-rounded individuals, ready to face the wealth of challenges ahead.

Excellent ways of understanding

The pastoral care at Fairfield is excellent and all staff work hard to bring out the best in each and every child. Each child benefits from effective, sensitive and well-coordinated pastoral care that enables academic achievement with individual care and focus, alongside an excellent holistic foundation for future learning.

Excellent experiences and opportunities

From Kindergarten to Year 6, the opportunities are vast and varied. There are over 40 clubs and activities available at lunchtime and after school encompassing Sport, Music, Drama and Art. From Origami to Music Theory, these include a Running Club, Rainbows and Dance. Most importantly, each child is encouraged and given the confidence to participate and enjoy success whatever their interests.

Charity and community work are also part of the school ethos. The school Council decides upon the charity focus for each term and fundraise for a rota of local, national, overseas and animal focused causes.

Excellent spaces and facilities

In 2016, Fairfield opened a new state-of-the-art building which provides new high-tech, light and airy classrooms with access to outdoor space, a large gymnasium and performance hall, specialist Art, Science and Food Technology rooms and a purpose-built Kindergarten. There is also a Forest School in a half-acre of woodland on the campus where children can safely explore the outdoor environment and develop an appreciation of the natural world.
