Feltonfleet is a community where 'individuals really matter' - a core belief which shapes all we say and do.
We know the most enjoyable personal growth comes from developing a child's natural talents and skills. In nurturing this potential within a sharing community, with a strong sense of family, children are able to discover their gifts and grow in self-confidence, independence and compassion.
Our ethos is based upon positive learning, living and leading, alongside core values of kindness, honesty, respect and responsibility. The overriding sense of happiness and laughter is palpable in the classrooms, on the playing fields and in the Boarding House. Our unique blend of day and boarding pupils creates a real buzz around school. Feltonfleet children are optimistic and inquisitive, with a thirst for life and learning. They thrive here.
The combination of talented and dedicated staff, an inspiring curriculum and 25 acres of beautiful grounds with exceptional facilities, encourages children to use their imagination, to think creatively, to explore the world around them and to strive to excel.
In 2015 a brand new Performing Arts Centre opened to complement the Drama, Music and Dance departments. The new, award nominated space, which includes the Ashbee Theatre and Dance Studio, is linked to the original building via an impressive glass corridor which houses the Main Reception. The theatre has retractable seating for up to 400 and advanced sound and light systems, providing a wonderful performance space and event venue.
In addition to a well-equipped sports hall, extensive playing fields and hard surface tennis courts, Feltonfleet boasts a 15m indoor swimming pool, floodlit all-weather Astroturf pitch and climbing wall. The school has its own rifle ranges for both air-rifle and .22 shooting. Beyond the playing fields a band of woodland is home to the eco-pond and a wilderness area for play and Science study.
High standards and expectations are grounded in the conviction that academic excellence and enjoyment of childhood go hand in hand. Unusually for a prep school, we have 'time to stop & think' lessons to nourish emotional wellbeing and to develop resilience and strategies for lasting mental health.
The Feltonfleet journey falls into four stages and reflects our belief that success and achievement happen in a happy, optimistic environment where children travel at different speeds along their bespoke academic and personal pathway.
Throughout the curriculum we seek to equip each child with the core academic skills and learning attributes so that they can take pride and responsibility for their own learning. Children gradually progress from being dependent learners to inter-dependent learners, developing the self-esteem and the confidence in themselves to 'risk' learning and acquiring new skills. Each stage in the journey is linked by our core values and strong sense of community.
As our pupils complete the four stages of their Feltonfleet journey, graduating after Common Entrance, they secure places and scholarships to leading independent senior schools in a range of academic, sporting, musical and all-round disciplines. They are well prepared for the next stage of their journey.
Come and see what makes Feltonfleet a wonderful school for your child's preparatory education. We would be delighted to show you around.
