Description: Heath Mount is a thriving independent, co-educational Pre-prep and Prep school for children aged 3-13. It is set in 40 acres on the idyllic Woodhall Park Estate, near Ware and Hertford.

We promote an ethos underpinned by strong values. These are acceptance, respect, integrity, industry and achievement. Whilst academic achievement and exam success are important, it is equally vital that the school nourishes, prepares, stimulates, supports and channels pupils physically, emotionally, socially and mentally and provides them with drive and resilience for the years ahead.

Facilities: We benefit from our own Forest School and an all-weather Astroturf. A spacious central plateau houses rugby, football and cricket pitches, as well as our netball courts.

We have a well-equipped gymnasium, and our swimming pool offers the best of both worlds, with a retractable roof giving shelter in the winter and outdoor swimming in the warmer summer months, so our children really do have the opportunity to enjoy sport all year round.

Inside, all classrooms are equipped with the very latest in interactive technology. We have a dedicated ICT suite in the Pre-prep school and a newly refurbished ICT facility in the Prep school.

Our purpose-built Pre-prep is in the same grounds as the Prep school but separate from it. It has its own library, computer room, music room, dining room and hall in addition to a beautiful outdoor playground.

Pre-prep children also use many of the Prep school’s facilities such as the Sports Hall, Astroturf, Swimming Pool, Pottery Room and Chapel.

In September 2015 we opened our new classroom block for Year 3 and 4 pupils and in summer 2017 we opened our magnificent new Performing Arts Centre.

Feeder Schools: We feed to a wide range of senior schools including Eton, Harrow, Westminster, Radley, Oundle, Uppingham, Benenden, St Albans Boys, St Albans Girls, Haileybury, Bishop’s Stortford College, Felsted, The Leys and Brighton College.

Exam results: In the academic year 2017-18, we gained 48 scholarships to senior schools.

Entrance procedure: Prospective pupils may be registered with us from any time after birth and we welcome the majority of our children to our Nursery in the September following their third birthday. We are not a selective school and do not assess children starting at this stage though we do encourage early registration as places are limited and our Pre-prep is often oversubscribed.

We usually have a smaller number of spaces available as our children enter Reception and do not formally assess at this age, but will invite your child in to spend time with us to ensure that they have the social and developmental skills to access the Early Years Curriculum.

For entry into the Prep school for Year 3 and above, assessments in Maths, reading, writing and non-verbal reasoning will usually take place in addition to an observational assessment to ensure that your child is able to access our broad curriculum. References will also be sought from your child’s current school. Provided we have space in our school we do accept children at any stage from Year 3 up to Year 8 entry.
