Kingscourt independent school, part of the Cognita group of schools, provides an outstanding quality of education to girls and boys aged from 2 years and 9 months–11 years. We value respect, kindness and good behaviour whilst encouraging a spirit of adventure and developing character and resilience.

We are located in the village of Catherington between Horndean and Clanfield, just south of Petersfield and just north of Portsmouth and are easily accessible from the nearby A3M.

Our Nursery and School are housed in a Grade II listed Georgian building surrounded by 25 acres of private playing fields and walled garden. From Nursery through to Year 6, we make the most of the extensive grounds for Outdoor Learning, nature walks, playtime, extra-curricular clubs, sport and a year round calendar of events.

Because we are independent, we don’t have a catchment area, so you are free to choose Kingscourt for your child regardless of where you live. We can provide wraparound care for your child from our Breakfast Club at 7.30am until 6.00pm each day during term time. We offer an exceptional number and variety of extra-curricular clubs including fencing, horse-riding, judo, performing arts, gymnastics, coding and many more.

Our pupils consistently achieve significantly above the national average in well recognised National Progress tests. We use tests for both English and Mathematics on a regular basis which assess all aspects of their learning and highlight how well the children can apply these skills across the curriculum. With a well-balanced timetable and high-quality teaching, children at Kingscourt are challenged appropriately and supported as necessary in order to fulfil their learning potential.

Our pupils are frequently awarded scholarships – academic, sporting, musical and artistic to local well-regarded senior schools.

We constantly review our curriculum and technology provision so that we can fully prepare our children with the skills they will need when they leave us for the next stage in their education. We aim to:

  • Maintain very high academic expectations and performance from Nursery to Year 6.
  • Offer a bespoke upper Key Stage 2 curriculum enabling pupils to reach their full potential and first choice senior school.
  • Focus on maintaining a ‘cherished childhood’ through our ethos of challenge and enjoyment.
  • Offer an enriched curriculum enabling children to learn both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Provide planned opportunities for parental involvement to enhance the community aspect of the school.
  • Ensure that community global citizenship is an integral part of school life.

We say that every day is an Open Day at Kingscourt, and we would love to show you around at a time convenient to you. During the current climate, we are adhering to Covid safety guidelines and restrictions in order to keep our school community safe, so we thank you in advance for your understanding and support with this. Please do contact our Admissions Team to arrange a private 1:1, socially distanced tour with our Headteacher Amanda Bembridge. We look forward to welcoming you.
