Lockers Park is a high achieving and happy preparatory school that has been educating boys to the highest standard for more than 145 years. The school is purposefully small, so that their pupils achieve excellent results alongside an enthusiasm for life.

A day and boarding school for boys aged 4-13, Lockers Park blends a traditional prep school environment with a progressive, forward-thinking approach. Nestled in 23 acres of beautiful woodland in Boxmoor, the school is ideally situated in the heart of Hertfordshire, within close proximity to London and key airports.

Purposefully Small

Treating boys as individuals is at the very heart of Lockers Park's approach. Allowing boys to be themselves, comfortable within their school environment, encourages them to gain confidence and flourish academically.

Lockers Park is purposefully small, with class sizes of maximum 16 pupils. This allows teachers to know each pupil well, to help get the very best out of every boy.

Excellent Results

Lockers Park enjoys a consistently strong record of academic success. It holds an enviable reputation for sending boys to leading senior schools such as Bedford, Eton, Harrow, Haileybury and Radley, with a notable range of scholarships and exhibitions won each year. With small class sizes, dedicated teachers and personalised support, pupils are encouraged to become independent thinkers. The curriculum is carefully structured to help boys grow socially, culturally and emotionally, equipping them to participate confidently in discussion and debate. Tatler Schools Guide 2020 observes: “Lockers Park is a school that continues to impress.”

Enthusiasm for Life

Pupils are encouraged to develop a suite of other interests and skills alongside their academic studies. From sport and music to drama and art, pupils are encouraged to try their hand at all kinds of exciting activities.

The school's inclusive 'sport for all' approach encourages all boys to develop their own sporting passions, whatever their ability. Pupils enjoy structured sport every day and very much see it as an opportunity to let off steam outside and have fun with friends. The school knows that playing sport is key to helping build confidence, self-esteem and team spirit and importantly, boosting wellbeing.

Music is widely recognised as outstanding at Lockers Park. Over 95% of pupils learn a musical instrument, with many learning two or three. A thriving String Orchestra and Chapel Choir are just some of the options on offer to pupils. A new Recording Studio with sequencing software was recently added to further enhance the school’s music provision.

Superb Pastoral Care

A highly-regarded team of staff work to ensure pupils are happy and well-motivated. A warm, family orientated and inclusive approach gives the care, comfort and support that is vital for the boys’ well-being and success.

Lockers Park is proud of its boarding heritage and believes the opportunities boarding offers to pupils are plentiful, particularly with the shifting dynamics of modern family life. Learning to live away from home teaches boys resilience and independence, a spirit of tolerance and an understanding of others.
