Maidwell Hall is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 4-13. Set in 230 acres of the most beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, it is a truly charmed place for children to spend this important part of their childhood. We are always proud to hear that children from Maidwell Hall are thought of as polite, happy and articulate whilst our excellent academic record speaks for itself.
We are a boarding and day school, with the majority of children being full boarders. The happy family atmosphere that pervades at Maidwell Hall is an important part of why boarding with us is so successful, with a comprehensive programme of activities offered in the evenings, so everyone is kept happy and busy.
The Pre-Prep is taught in a separate building, with the young children being able to make full use of the sports, music and swimming facilities. Once in the Prep School, the children are taught by subject specialists; streamed from the beginning and class sizes never above fifteen.
We are a small school, which ensures that it really does feel like a large family. Given our size there are many things that we can do as a whole school. Every morning the school gathers for Prayers in The Front Hall and we all eat together at lunch time; with the teaching staff 'hosting' tables and pupils seated in mixed age groups.
At Maidwell, Sport is integral to school life, with every child playing for an hour every afternoon, with matches on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We have our own indoor swimming pool, Astroturf pitch and extensive playing fields.
Music and drama also feature with over two thirds of the school playing at least one musical instrument and many concerts and performances throughout the year. The acclaimed annual school production, where the philosophy is to create a performance to rival that of any prep or indeed senior school in the country.
Although we believe in our ethos as a traditional prep school, there is no doubt that our children are fully prepared for the modern world. We may have grown in recent years, but we have sought to remain small enough to maintain the highly individual approach that we consider to be so essential to our success.
