Mount House School is a non-selective, co-educational independent day school for the 21st century where children develop into confident learners.
Located in the North London suburb of Hadley Wood, Mount House School enjoys a tranquil and peaceful setting, whilst still being close to all major road and rail links.
Mount House is not a 'one size fits all' school. Here, every individual is valued and each child's unique talents will be identified and nurtured. Students leave as able, articulate, balanced, caring, and well-rounded individuals with a genuine love of learning, ready to take on life's challenges and opportunities, aware of the needs of others and confident in their ability to make a difference.
With our small class sizes and highly experienced, committed teaching staff, we are able to maximise the learning potential of every pupil.
Mount House is a happy and successful school, with an excellent record of GCSE and A level results and an outstanding record of students achieving places at top universities.
We place a high priority on personal development. Growth in moral, spiritual and cultural values is encouraged as part of the everyday ethos of the school. Pastoral care is centred around our supportive tutor system, which enhances the feeling of belonging to a very special family community, where everyone feels valued.
Our innovative curriculum, offering ground-breaking opportunities for students aged 11–18, is at the heart of the school, while our 'Growing Foxes' programme teaches pupils the kind of ingenuity and strategic thinking utilised in the city's best boardrooms.
Pupils are encouraged to become self-motivated learners, critical thinkers, to express thoughts and feelings, to write creatively and use their imaginations. They enjoy using their numeracy skills, interpreting and using data and applying their knowledge to problem solving situations. Pupils' education is supplemented through a wide variety of educational visits and visitors from the community, such as theatre groups and interactive workshops.
We believe a child's education is a shared responsibility between school and home and we positively encourage the support of parents, offering a partnership that embraces regular contact and communication, leading to the building of strong relationships that are a key factor in the school's popularity.
A significant amount of funding has already been invested in Mount House in recent months, including the provision of new music, drama and IT facilities, refurbished classrooms and the creation of a new café, which is open to parents as well as to sixth formers, and with plans for further investment, including a brand new sports hall, new technology suite and a new library, Mount House will become a school fit to support and develop both the curricular and extra-curricular talents of its growing pupil population.
The move to co-education (Mount House was previously the all-girls St Martha's School), together with our policy of non-selection, form the basis of our vision of making Mount House School much more inclusive and accessible to all. We believe everyone is capable of achieving, given the right tools and inspiration, and are proud that our members of staff always go the extra mile to help our pupils succeed.
Mount House School is in Camlet Way, Hadley Wood, Herts – 10 minutes walk from Hadley Wood station and three miles from J24 of the M25.
