At Orchard House School, we believe children flourish when they are known, supported and inspired to aim high. Our co-educational prep school in Chiswick welcomes children from ages 3 to 11, combining academic ambition with outstanding pastoral care and a genuinely broad education. Our values of Excellence, Honesty and Kindness underpin everything we do.

Our bespoke Learning Orchard Curriculum is at the heart of the Orchard House experience. Designed specifically for our pupils, it brings together powerful knowledge, rich skills, holistic connections and leadership, preparing children not simply for examinations but for a rapidly changing world. Alongside a rigorous academic foundation, pupils benefit from dedicated STEM and project-based learning, Philosophy and Oracy, bespoke reading programmes, and extensive opportunities in sport, music, drama and art.

The Learning Orchard is complemented by our adoption of High Performance Learning (HPL), based on the belief that every child can achieve highly with the right teaching, challenge and encouragement. HPL gives pupils a shared language for understanding how they learn, developing qualities such as resilience, empathy and open-mindedness alongside cognitive skills including analysing, questioning, linking ideas and reflection. We are currently working towards HPL World Class School Accreditation.

Reading is another particular strength. Our Reading Explorer and Reading Scholar programmes encourage children to read widely and regularly, discover high-quality literature and develop a lifelong love of books. Reading is embedded across the curriculum, while our library, author visits, Mystery Readers, book celebrations and opportunities for older pupils to read with younger children create a strong whole-school reading culture.

Small class sizes, typically 16–18 pupils, allow teachers to know each child well and personalise their learning. Specialist teaching begins in the Early Years and extends throughout the school, including science, computing, languages, music, Eurythmics, sport and the creative arts. Our Innovation Hub provides dedicated spaces for STEM, technology, art, cooking and project-based learning, while pupils benefit from excellent local sporting facilities and extensive competitive opportunities.

We place equal importance on wellbeing, inclusion and individual development. Our pastoral and SEND provision includes specialist support such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and even life coaching, alongside a strong network of form teachers and pastoral staff. We want every child to feel safe, valued and confident enough to take on new challenges.

Our approach is reflected in our pupils' achievements. In 2026, our Year 6 cohort received an outstanding 150 senior-school offers and 42 scholarships to 27 leading day and boarding schools, across academics, art, drama, music and sport. Our sporting success has also continued, with the U11 netball team finishing runners-up at the IAPS National Finals 2026.

We are equally proud of the recognition our school and staff have received. In the 2026 Pearson National Teaching Awards, Orchard House received a Silver Award, three Highly Commended awards – including recognition for our Early Years Team – and two Certificates of Achievement. We were also shortlisted in the 2025 Tes Schools Awards for Primary Curriculum Leader of the Year and named among the Talk Education Top 250 Schools 2026. Our commitment to sustainability has been recognised through our status as an Eco-School, holding the Green Flag Award 2026 with Distinction.
