All children can learn to thrive, regardless of learning ability.

At Orchard House School, we believe that tailor-made teaching opens young minds to endless possibilities, encouraging them to think creatively and form their own ideas. In addition to guiding pupils to high academic achievement, our programme of learning celebrates self-discipline and sensitivity to others, whilst developing our core values of excellence, honesty, and kindness. Our pupils call it having fun. We call it being the best they can be.

Complementing our outstanding form teachers, the school is equipped with an abundance of specialist educators, resulting in numerous awards in recent years, including the NAACE Mark for excellence in Education Technology and the TES Independent Schools Award for Sport. Music and Drama play a key role at Orchard House School, with pupils of all ages participating in drama and musical productions, clubs, concerts, and assemblies. Sports facilities at Rocks Lane feature football, cricket, rugby, and hockey pitches, netball courts, all-weather pitches for lacrosse, and a sports field for athletics and Sports Days. Our pupils benefit from nearby access to swimming facilities, ensuring a breadth of sporting activities.

While our school is renowned for academic excellence, pastoral care comes first. Children blossom when they feel secure, happy, and valued. No child has any doubt that teachers will lend a safe and sympathetic ear to their issues. Each child has a Pupil Pastoral Care Plan where they can note any private worries so that teachers may monitor their happiness and well-being, and our buddy system helps newcomers through their early days. The school's House system encourages teamwork and a competitive spirit, allowing children to celebrate their own success as well as the achievements of others.

Our Year 6 pupils are uniquely prepared for entrance to a senior school that is best suited to their abilities, character, and interests. We prepare children for senior school life, of which the 11+ assessments are just one part. As part of their preparation, parents and pupils attend Senior School Open Days, have individual meetings with the Form teachers and Deputy Head to discuss choices, and meet with the Headteacher about all options. Our children also benefit from priority entry into Dukes Education senior schools: Hampton Court House, Eaton Square Senior, and Kneller Hall.

An exciting new chapter has begun at Orchard House School as we successfully merged with Chiswick & Bedford Park Preparatory School in September 2024 to form a new Orchard House School under the leadership of newly-in-post Henrietta Adams (formerly Headmistress of Chiswick & Bedford Park Prep). A multimillion-pound redevelopment of the four school buildings across Chiswick and Bedford Park was completed in the summer of 2024, providing our school with fully refurbished facilities throughout, a new STEAM centre, and Computing Centre, additional spaces for Art, Music, and Drama, and a beautiful open plan Nursery which will house 55 new children joining the school each year. As a thriving three-form entry school, all children in the Lower School benefit from a full-time teaching assistant, and throughout the school, there is specialist teaching staff across the curriculum, ensuring academic excellence alongside outstanding pastoral care. This significant investment from Dukes Education has firmly positioned Orchard House School as one of London's premier preparatory schools.
