Building Confidence, Integrity and Excellence

Sir William Perkins's School aims to build confidence, integrity and excellence in a caring, innovative and happy community so that each student leaves with the best possible chance of achieving their full potential and ready to make their mark on the world.

As shown through regular excellent exam results, academic success is certainly a priority, but education is about more than just achieving top grades. SWPS strives to educate the whole person and produce confident and well-rounded young people ready to face any challenges they take on.

Students are encouraged to get involved in the numerous co-curricular activities on offer and to take every opportunity they can to develop their interests and creativity, as well as strong interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills while also reading into the wider community.

At SWPS, financial and honorary Academic scholarships are offered, and candidates have the opportunity to apply for Arts and Music Scholarships as well as Perkins Bursaries. The additional opportunity to apply for Sport Scholarships is available upon entry to the Sixth Form.

SWPS has convenient transport links and is easily reachable by train or car, as well as offering school coach services to a wide area. The school sits on twelve acres of Surrey greenbelt land and boasts two all-weather pitches as well as a large secluded sports field.

Due to the range of subjects taught, the School features several purpose-built departments with continuously updated contemporary equipment and technologies to stay at the forefront of education. Facilities such as a Sports centre, complete with dedicated IT suite, sprung-floored dance studio and specialist strength and conditioning gallery; the Design Technology department, offering Product Design workshops, 3D printer, laser cutter, nutrition kitchen and textiles workshop; the Art and Design department: with photography darkroom, print-making tools and ceramics kiln; or the Drama, Theatre and Digital Video Editing departments with fully equipped production decks and editing equipment.

Further afield, the SWPS Boat House sits on Laleham reach (a 5 minutes journey from the school) which hosts the SWPS Boat Club. SWPSBC includes over a third of SWPS students and have built upon their success since their founding, and over the last couple of years have qualified and competed in finals at Henley Royal Regatta.

As well as the Senior School, SWPS hosts their Sixth Form. Based out of the 'penthouse' Sixth Form centre complete with wrap-around terrace, SWPS Sixth Formers can enjoy all of the facilities at SWPS while studying their chosen further education curriculum. Students are provided careers and subject guidance before making their A Level selections to ensure they’re making the best choice for them, to arm them with the tools they’ll need in the future. As well as the academic side, a full and varied enrichment programme is offered building on their leadership skills and breadth of knowledge, as well as ensuring they continue to receive a well-rounded education that’s not all about exam results and grades.

The only way to really experience all of this is to visit SWPS. The school offers numerous Information Mornings (for both parents and pupils) where you’ll get to meet the warm and friendly staff, get a tour of the fantastic facilities from current students, as well as ask any questions you want answered, all while (most importantly) enjoying the delicious refreshments!
