Building Confidence, Integrity and Excellence

Sir William Perkins’s School is an independent day school for girls aged 11-18 in Chertsey, Surrey.

Offering a world-class curriculum, enhanced by a wide-ranging and enriching co-curricular programme, the school produces excellent academic results.

Rated ‘Excellent in all areas’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2019, Sir William Perkins’s School encourages girls to develop confidence, resilience and self-reliance in pursuit of their goals.

The school takes pride in providing students with inspirational teaching, extensive co-curricular opportunities and sector leading pastoral care. Students understand that hard work and curiosity are vital to success, and they accept these challenges with determination and good humour.

The school strives to cultivate ambition, fostering a desire amongst students to broaden horizons and push boundaries, educating the whole person to produce confident and well-rounded young people ready to face the world.

Students are encouraged to take every opportunity to develop their interests and creativity, as well as building strong interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills.

At Sir William Perkins’s School, financial and honorary academic scholarships are offered, and candidates have the opportunity to apply for Art, Drama and Music Scholarships as well as Bursaries; in the Sixth Form there is an additional opportunity to apply for a Scholarship in Sport.

The school has convenient transport links and is easily accessible by train or car, as well as providing coach services to a wide area.

The school sits on twelve acres of Surrey greenbelt land and boasts two all-weather pitches as well as a large secluded sports field.

Offering a wide range of subjects, the School features several purpose-built departments with continuously updated contemporary equipment and technologies to stay at the forefront of education.

Facilities include: a Sports centre with sprung-floored dance studio and specialist strength and conditioning gallery; Design Technology department with Product Design workshops, nutrition kitchen and textiles workshop; Art and Design studios with photography darkroom, print-making facilities and ceramics kiln; Drama department with purpose-built theatre and fully equipped production decks and editing equipment.

Further afield, the SWPS Boat House – sitting on Laleham Reach, five minutes from the school – is home to SWPS Boat Club, the school’s elite rowing facility. SWPS Boat Club is used regularly by over a third of students, and successful teams have competed in finals at Henley Royal Regatta as well as racing at Championship standard in The National Schools Regatta.

The School has an established Sixth Form, housed in a ‘penthouse’ Sixth Form centre complete with wrap-around terrace, silent study rooms and access to a wide range of purpose-built facilities.

Sixth Form students benefit from small class sizes, and their own bespoke programmes of study. Students are provided with university and careers guidance, as well as access to an extensive enrichment programme, Oxbridge Programme, Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Science Programme, a range of extended qualifications and much more besides.
