"A warm and caring prep school set in 22 acres of countryside that brings together outdoor learning and wholesome values with a forward thinking curriculum and focus on 21st Century skills." Muddy Stilettos Review 2021
Set in 22 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School develops learners and thinkers who are adept to engage in a rapidly evolving world with the confidence and skills to make a positive difference.
The children here are at the heart of the school and ensuring their happiness and wellbeing is key: the high academic achievement, broad range of talents and impressive social confidence that the children show year after year is embedded in our core ethos. Their smiles speak for themselves!
Each child at Skippers is allowed the space and opportunity to discover their passions and interests. This can be seen in the wide selection of Senior Schools that our children move on to as well as the vast array of scholarships attained. Individual talents and qualities are celebrated and ‘outcomes for all Skippers’ children are excellent.’ (ISI Inspection 2019).
Innovation is harnessed and children are taught by specialist teachers in art, languages, science, music, performing arts and sport. Our outdoor space provides an extension of the classroom with children from Nursery to Year 6 taking part in our Woodland Explorers programme. Older children can choose a variety of sports and clubs including after school mountain biking. They very much look forward to coming for a Skippers camping weekend in Year 7 with the full works of a campfire, marshmallows, singing and games, all in our grounds. Skippers can be described quite simply as educational excellence with a lot of heart.
Having healthy, active minds and bodies is a priority at Skippers, mental health and pastoral care are embedded in everything we do and not just a tokenized extra. There are dedicated safe spaces for children of all ages to go to and talk things through with trained staff or just reflect and regroup. This coupled with our innovative approach to all areas of school life is why we all love being a part of Skippers.
"Pupils develop a strong understanding of their social responsibilities and contribute most effectively to the welfare of their peers" (ISI Inspection 2019)
After a recent visit the headmaster of Tonbridge, James Priory commented: "I was really impressed by their gentle confidence, the enthusiasm they showed for academic subjects and co-curricular pursuits, and the extent to which they knew and encouraged each other in their interests."
To feel the magic of what Skippers is all about, come and visit to see why our children, parents and staff love being a part of our school. As one parent put it: "My son found his wings at Skippers and flew!"
