St Clare's has a rich tradition of providing exceptional independent education to families in Mid Glamorgan and the Vale of Glamorgan for more than 85 years.

As part of Cognita St Clare's benefits from the support that being part of a successful global schools group brings, as well its culture of academic excellence. Cognita is an extraordinary family of diverse yet connected schools. Cognita schools provide a uniquely global education that goes beyond grades to develop all-round academic excellence - building resilient minds and encouraging positive international perspectives on a firm foundation of wellbeing.

Your child has their own personality and strengths, of course. It's what makes them special. St Clare's helps our pupils learn in the way that works best for them, by supporting them academically, socially and emotionally. And with over 100 schools in 16 countries spanning 5 continents, your child gets to be part of something bigger. And thrive. Our results speak for themselves but more than that, our pupils leave us equipped with the skills and character to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

One of the advantages of being an all-through school is that our Nursery & Prep pupils are able to benefit from the specialist teaching within the Senior school. Every pupil from Nursery to Year 6 receives a lesson of Spanish/French, Music and PE each week delivered by the specialist senior staff.

St Clare's Nursery recently won the Daynurseries UK 'Top 20' Award (Wales) 2024 for the 4th year running, based solely on our parents' 10/10 review scores because they love our deliberately smaller classes, weekly Spanish, French, Welsh and onsite Forest School alongside Drama, Music and PE.

The school has a proud tradition of academic excellence and the St Clare's approach certainly reaps rewards, with results from academic yearly progress tests exceeding the national average in all core subjects. We are particularly proud to be in the top 5% of top-performing A-Level schools in the UK for ALPS (A-Level Performance System) since 2018.

At St Clare's an enriching school experience is as important as academic progress and the school aims to provide a multitude of trips, musical, sporting and cultural events while promoting employability for its older pupils. The curriculum is balanced by a wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities from chess, cheese and cookery club, to French, football and investment banking. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an important part of our non-academic enrichment programme.

Nestled in 11 acres of magnificent grounds away from the hustle and bustle of city life, we are located in the historic village of Newton, with the glorious Glamorgan Heritage Coast on our doorstep. We are delighted to be adding Coastal School to our curriculum next autumn.

Put your child on the path to a fantastic educational experience. We have designed our admissions process to be as easy as possible and we will happily guide you every step of the way.
