St Columba's College is an independent Catholic day school for boys, established in the tradition of the Brothers' of the Sacred Heart, for boys, ages 4-18, in the lovely Cathedral city of St Albans, Hertfordshire. The school is open to boys from a wide variety of religious traditions, with learning underpinned by the Columban code of Courage, Courtesy and Compassion.

At each phase of education, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form, we are proud of our reputation for high academic achievement with first-rate pastoral care, small class sizes and a well-developed House system, forging positive relationships and encouraging healthy competition.

We aim to launch boys on their individual journeys to becoming well-rounded, socially aware young men who are equipped and confident for twenty-first century society. Every element of the curriculum and extended curriculum at St Columba's is regarded as equally important in our holistic aim of preparing young men 'not just to make a living, but to make a life'.

Our boys and their families are known and valued and our inspiring teachers challenge every pupil to achieve his own best standard. At St Columba's, we work closely with parents in a respectful partnership that benefits the boys and enriches our values.

Boys who enter our school are embraced by the Columban learning ethos of resilience, teamwork and a positive Growth Mindset. It begins in our Prep School, where the boys hone vital academic and social skills, in small expertly-staffed classes. Through engaging topic work and exciting challenges, they are encouraged to develop their own interests and learning styles, taking responsibility for themselves and developing the collaborative thinking that allows them to support others.

The Senior School curriculum is ambitious and varied. Our passionate and inspirational teachers provide pupils with high-quality learning opportunities, educating each student to the very best of his academic ability and offering support, challenge, and an individualised approach at every stage.

At Sixth Form, you will find a sanctuary of academic rigour and personal growth. There is a wide range of A level subjects and extra-curricular experiences available and our leadership opportunities enable students to emerge with skills, qualifications and attributes that make them ready for their next adventure, leaving behind a legacy of character and ambition.

There are Old Columbans forging successful and worthwhile lives in every field imaginable: we know, because they come back and tell us, passing on their experience, sharing their passions.

We offer an excellent extra extracurricular programme throughout the school including numerous sports, such as rugby, basketball, athletics, football and cricket; choirs and music ensembles; lunch time and after-school clubs; the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

In the Senior School and Sixth Form, academic and music scholarships are available and sport scholarships are available to those applying for the Sixth Form. Families can also apply for additional funding through our means-tested bursary scheme.

We hope that you share our vision of education and warmly invite you to visit the Prep School, Senior School or the Sixth Form to meet our staff and students and to experience our community first-hand.
