Nestled on the edge of Court Park in a quiet corner of Hillingdon, St. Helen's College is a popular independent prep school for boys and girls aged 2 to 11, with a separate, thriving pre-school Nursery which offers a year-round provision from 8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.
The school has a real family feel and has been described by inspectors as a 'haven of harmony'. Indeed, the most recent ISI inspection in September 2024 praised St. Helen's College for its excellent quality of teaching, superb pupil personal development and recognised the outstanding achievements of its pupils, both academic, and extra-curricular.
In particular the inspection report highlights the exceptional oral communication skills of pupils, awarding St. Helen's College a prestigious 'area of significant strength' in this area. Inspectors said, 'Leaders have high aspirations for pupils. The decision to prioritise oracy skills and to provide opportunities for pupils to use them, results in highly articulate, confident individuals. Pupils readily express their thoughts and opinions. This is a significant strength of the school. Pupils use verbal reasoning skills to explain their independent thinking. They are empowered to be dynamic individuals who lead initiatives that make a positive and impactful contribution to the school and wider community.'
The school's values and ethos set it apart. Led by the Head, Sophie Green, staff create a harmonious, loving environment, nurture the individual qualities of every pupil and ensure that children develop a lifelong love of learning, find out where their talents and interests lie, and leave school with traditional values and strength of character, ready to face the challenges of adult life with confidence, resilience and joy!
The children enjoy lessons taught by highly qualified specialist teachers right from the start, allowing them to study at a high level led by teachers with a real passion for their subject. There is also an extremely wide-ranging and quite unique range of 70+ co-curricular activities available, with superb music, drama and sports provision and clubs including cookery, gardening, yoga, taekwondo, ceramics, dance and many, many more.
The school benefits from specialist modern facilities and is strongly rooted in its local community, enjoying links with local churches, Brunel University and local theatres. The safe, loving, encouraging environment at St. Helen's College fosters excellent academic achievement and well-rounded, confident pupils.
