Harry Riley founded Strathallan in 1913 with the ambition of creating a school where there would be opportunities for every pupil to excel and perform to the very best of their abilities, and that vision is one we hold true today.
No matter what a pupil’s passion or interest, they are supported and inspired to shine during their time at Strathallan. Consequently, our pupils achieve brilliant things. They excel academically, compete in sports at national and international levels, succeed in scholastic championships, perform on national stages and play as part of nationwide orchestras and ensembles.
Core to our ethos, however, is inclusion. All pupils represent the School in team sports under the age of 15 and participation in sports right through to Sixth Form is extremely high. There are opportunities for everyone to get involved with music and drama, whether it be performing on stage or working as backstage crew on our School productions. Other pupils take on responsibilities such as becoming a Peer Mentor or Head of House, volunteering in the local community or teaching younger children in the Junior School, Riley House.
Any parent choosing Strathallan will quickly realise that their child will be known here – for who they are, for their individual abilities and for their potential.
Our flexible curriculum and innovative teaching means we can support every pupil, whatever their ambitions and style of learning. Strathallan offer’s GCSE’s, Scottish Higher’s and A Levels giving our students the flexibility to ensure they leave Strathallan with the academic qualifications required to propel them into their chosen career.
As the top Scottish co-ed boarding school for A Level results in 2017, we constantly achieve superb academic results. Our pupils perform exceptionally well across many different disciplines, achieving excellent results in public examinations.
Our pupils go on to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, international study, work placements, professional sporting careers or even start their own business.
We believe that the supportive nature of the whole Strathallan community and house system provide a pastoral care programme which gives pupils the confidence to pursue their academic studies with vigour and enthusiasm, leading them to achieve the highest results
An all round education
One of the things that sets Strathallan apart is the scale of what’s on offer outside the classroom. We offer over 80 different activity options - some are linked to academic departments, some are sports, while others are purely recreational. Our extensive onsite facilities also help to foster a sense of community and mutual ambition. There’s something for everyone and we’re always looking for initiatives to give our pupils new experiences.
Although we enjoy the advantages of a self-contained, rural location, we’re an international community and welcome young people from around the globe. This diversity of experience gives our pupils the maturity and cultural intelligence to go out into the world and succeed, as well as enjoying a worldwide network of friends.
