The Mulberry House School is a Nursery and Pre-Prep school in North London and was established to provide children between the ages of 2 and 7+ years with the highest standard of education and care. At our school, we regard all children as special, different and as having individual needs. We work in partnership with parents to ensure that each child's first important experience of school will be a secure and happy one, and that school is a place where children come eagerly each day and depart with a sense of achievement and pleasure.

The School Buildings

The school has two buildings less than 100 metres apart. The First School is for the children between the ages of 2 and 3 years. The Second School is for children between the ages of 3 and 7+ years. Both buildings have been designed to provide spacious indoor and outdoor environments.

The Learning Experience

We believe in a well-rounded education that nurtures the individual and offers an environment in which pupils learn without limits. Learning at The Mulberry House School is just as much about developing curiosity, resilience and a love of learning as it is about achieving academically.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum. We have the highest expectations of the children in our care. We strive to ensure that each child's full academic potential is realised while individuals' talents are encouraged and nurtured.

With us, children develop confidence and self-esteem through drama, dance, visual arts and music. Our aim is to inspire and stimulate the children’s creativity and imagination through a wealth of Arts based experiences. Annual highlights include an art exhibition, LAMDA examinations, Mulberry's Got Talent, choir, termly concerts and Glee. To further enrich the curriculum, each class has a specialist teacher for Art, Music and Drama across the school.

The children are given the opportunity to learn through play, practical experiences, exploration and enquiry, to reflect on and discuss their learning, investigate new ideas, make choices and solve problems. During activities, the children work individually, collaboratively as a group and as a whole class. The curriculum is enriched and supported through educational visits, visitors and extracurricular activities. These activities form an integral part of the curriculum.

Beyond The Classroom

At The Mulberry House School, we constantly strive to produce well-rounded children capable of communicating effectively with confidence and eloquence. With this in mind, we provide children with a wide range of experiences to develop their interests and enrich their learning opportunities through first hand experiences.

Visits to the local park, Whipsnade Zoo, museums, galleries, wildlife centres and theatres are organised alongside topics and the children’s interests. Visitors to the school also provide interesting specialist knowledge to extend their learning further. We offer a diverse range of clubs throughout the school and these have included, Spanish, Ball Skills, Debating, Engineering and Coding clubs.

Our outdoor classroom at Westbere Copse (a local nature reserve) has enabled the children to explore the natural environment first hand; building on their resilience, confidence and self-esteem. Each class visits the Copse weekly and this enables them to develop problem solving skills, giving them the ability to risk assess, enhancing creativity and encouraging a connection with nature. Outdoor sessions have included; pond dipping, minibeast hunts, creating bird feeders, den building, nature presses and creating clay sculptures. The children have the opportunity to build relationships and use teamwork outside. These are vital life skills, essential in them becoming independent learners.

Leavers

As a school we believe in finding the right school for your child. We want children to leave us developing a love of learning and for this to be continued into the next stage of their education. If you would like to see some of the schools we feed into at 4+ and 7+, please visit our website. We are immensely proud of the achievements of all of our pupils across the 4+ and 7+ classes. Following this year's excellent results, we remain a recommended 'feeder' into London's top Prep schools.

Admissions

Children usually join us on the Monday after their second birthday. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis and there is a high demand for places. Due to this, there can often be a waiting list for places so early registration is strongly advisable.

Inspection

The Mulberry House School was inspected in March 2020 by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Following on from our 'Excellent' rating in every category in 2017, the school has achieved the highest possible standard in the Regulatory Compliance Inspection and has 'met' every category.
