Churcher’s College Sixth Form student explains how she is persevering with volunteering for her Gold DofE Award.

“During the lockdown I am continuing to volunteer for the Petersfield Age Concern lunch club. The face-to-face lunch club is suspended but weekly lunch deliveries are taking place. I am producing a weekly newsletter for all members that is delivered with their lunch. The newsletter aims to keep in touch, share stories and keep up the mental well-being of members. I created a questionnaire gaining input and ideas from members and volunteers. The weekly newsletter is called The Lunch Box; I am the Editor and manage contributions from members and volunteers including puzzles, recipes, stories and much more. We plan to continue the newsletter until we are able to return to face-to-face lunch club. I have learnt how to produce a newsletter, learned skills and team work with a variety of ages and managing different types of content. The newsletter has been really well received by our members and has been a brilliant way to keep in touch during difficult times.”
