The winner of the Young Enterprise National Tenner Challenge 2019 Award for ‘Most Profit’ in the 15–19 years category is Babington House School in Chislehurst.

Year 12 ‘Sixtons’ organised a school sleepover – ‘Sleepington at Babington’. They charged Year 7 to 9 pupils to sleepover, organised entertainment, pizza takeaway, refreshments and supervision – great fun was had by all but not a huge amount of sleep!

From their £10 the ‘Sixtons’ raised £813 in total in just 4 weeks and learnt a great deal in the process. Half the profits will go to Babington’s trip and outings fund, and the other half reinvested in the Student Enterprise Scheme.

This is an outstanding achievement; 26,083 entries were received by Young Enterprise in total in 2019 for the Tenner Challenge across the various categories. To win an Award in the National Finals is exceptional.

The Lower Sixth ‘Sixtons’ students and their parents attended to the Awards Ceremony at the Bank of England. Their award was presented by Andrew Ring from Hitachi Capital UK.

Tim Lello, Headmaster, said: “This is a fantastic achievement which demonstrates great organisational and entrepreneurial skills. Thank you to Mrs Parra for spearheading the initiative and congratulations to our Year 12 pupils on this National Award.”
