Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) is an awards scheme funded by the Mayor of London which supports and recognises achievements in child health, well-being and development in early years settings.

Congratulations to Babington House School Early Years staff and children for achieving their Healthy Early Years London Bronze Award. Tim Lello, Headmaster, said, “I am thrilled we have achieved this prestigious award which reflects our commitment and enthusiasm for healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle, which are vitally important lessons for life.”

Getting a good start in life, building emotional resilience and getting maximum benefit from education are the most important markers for good health and wellbeing throughout life. Early Years settings can lay the foundations for lifelong health and wellbeing as they help children prepare for school.

The aim of HEYL is to help reduce health inequalities by giving young children a healthy start. Under the programme, participating early years settings can achieve awards by demonstrating best practice across themes that include healthy eating, oral and physical health and early cognitive development. HEYL complements and enhances the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
