Cranleigh School hosted a Motown special at Cranleigh Arts Centre and raised £4000 for the performing arts hub. Pupils performed a collection of songs from the Motown record label and kept the packed audience dancing all night.

After months of preparation it was great to see pupils, parents and teachers joined by the community for a musical celebration fundraiser for the village's art and theatre centre.

Cranleigh Arts Centre's Artistic Director, Sophie Woods, said: "It was a fantastic evening with a great bunch of students. The money raised is huge for us, the most money we have made from a show ever and very generous from Cranleigh School."

Songs included Baby Love, You Can't Hurry Love, and Dancing in the Street. No Motown show would be complete without the music of Stevie Wonder. There were several highlights in all four of the songs performed in succession, written by one of Motown’s most famous artists, with Signed, Sealed, Delivered being one of the evening's highlights.

The show ended with a fantastic performance of Diana Ross’s I'm Coming Out, which was a fitting way to end an entertaining night of soulful music.
