Felsted School pupil Gus Burton, age 17 from Kelvedon, collected 3 podiums in his debut professional races last weekend at Donington Park.

After months of delay to the season, it kicked off in style for Gus when he secured pole position in qualifying and went on to take the podium in all 3 races as well as securing the quickest lap in two races.

Gus says “I have made good use of lockdown and the postponement of the race season by working very hard with both my fitness and simulator training. With the excellent support of Century Motorsport and my driver coaches, I felt confident going into the weekend and it was particularly sweet to win the last of the three races live on ITV4 on Sunday”.

This is just the beginning of a professional race career for the young Felsted Sixth Former who wishes to study motorsport engineering at university. Gus remains an ambassador for the Sparkle Foundation charity set up by former Felstedian Sarah Brook and has previously raised over £50k for the charity in car sponsorships which helped fund a new day centre facility to educate children in Malawi.

The GT4 SuperCup is a support race to the renowned British Touring Car Championship and Gus’ races will now run across seven weekends in a new condensed 2020 season. His progress can be tracked via his Twitter account @gusburtonracing or on his website www.gusburtonracing.com.
