Felsted School 1st XI hockey player Jessica Olorenshaw has been selected for the England U16 squad after she was spotted in the summer and put forward for try-outs.

Over the summer Jess was selected for the England futures cup, playing for the U15 Saxon Tigers team at Oakland’s College and was selected by the coach to captain the side. From this her talents for hockey were further recognised and she was selected to trial for the England U16 squad for which she successfully qualified.

Meanwhile there are a number of Felsted girls playing at county level across different disciplines. Keen Year 13 1st XI cricketer Emma Jones, was recently re-selected for the Surrey Stars Regional Development Competition squad, which is an excellent opportunity for Emma to pursue her long-standing passion for cricket at a higher level.

Eleven Prep pupils are members of the Essex or Hertfordshire Hockey Academies and six Senior pupils currently play hockey for Essex at U17 level or below. There are also a number of Felstedians playing at county level in Cricket.

Hockey and Cricket are both strong disciplines at Felsted, coached by Welsh International Hockey Player Jo Westwood, Super League Southern Vipers Cricketer Carla Rudd and ex-England cricketer Jason Gallian. Scholarships are available from age 11 for those showing commitment and excellence in sport.
