Haileybury is honoured to have been selected as one of the Top 100 secondary schools in the UK by The Cricketer’s Good Schools Guide 2019.

The judging panel based their decision on the quality of coaching, the range of fixture programmes and outstanding facilities.

Rupert Kitzinger, Director of Cricket at Haileybury, commented: “I am delighted that Haileybury continues to be recognised as one of the top Cricket Schools for boys and girls.

"What we offer for both performance and participation athletes is revered across the country and we will not sit still as we strive to offer the best education and cricketing experiences possible.”

Haileybury has a rich cricketing heritage and the sport has been played at the school since before the 1860s. Our fabulous cricket facilities are located in delightful grounds with modern practice nets facing Terrace and a picturesque Pavilion pitch with period buildings. In addition to the five outdoor squares, there is an indoor space with a Merlin, 3 bowling machines and Pitchvision Technology in the indoor nets.

The school is extremely proud of pupils who move on to forge successful careers in cricket, the most recent of whom is Sam Billings. Sam spent four years in the 1st XI at Haileybury, before going on to become captain at Loughborough University. He is currently the captain of Kent CCC.

The Cricketer magazine editor Simon Hughes commented: “This is a superb publication that serves both as an informative guide and as a tribute to all those teachers and coaches out there who are nurturing the talents of future club, county and international cricketers.

"I have been lucky enough to visit a number of school matches this summer, and am pleased to note that the standard of cricket, coaching facilities and enthusiasm for the game has been as high as I can recall.”
