Felsted School’s U16 Squash team are through to the National Finals for the first time in school history after their triumph in the Stage 1 and 2 Regional Rounds of the English National School Championship.

After beating The Leys, Brentwood and Haberdashers’ Aske in Stage 1 last term, the team went on to win both their matches (3-2) against Charterhouse and Whitgift School, earning a combined total of 24 points to put them through to the National Finals at the end of March in Nottingham.

Felsted Squash Coach, Richard Pilcher comments; “We are excited to be competing at this level for the first time. It is just rewards for the hard work and commitment of the pupils and coaching staff plus the support of parents.”

Squash is one of Felsted's most up and coming sports, rising in popularity year on year. With two squash courts on site, Felsted is fortunate to have two qualified and experienced coaches with over 30 years' playing experience each. The U16s reached the National Plate finals last year, placing them 17th in the country and there are a number of players from different age categories competing at county level. This includes Matthew Elliot, the team’s no 1 seed, who is a full boarder from Bermuda and current U17 Bermudian Squash Champion.

Squash camps are run at Felsted for all levels and for all children, including those not at Felsted School, every school holiday. Find out more on www.felsted.org/courses.
