In late January, Kew Green Preparatory School held their annual maths week.

Special 'mathematical' activities were held every day for each year group, culminating in both Lower School and Upper School Countdown Competitions at the end of the week. Children from Reception to Year 6 stood in front of their peers to answer various maths questions.

Activities were mostly practical, including a visit from the Happy Puzzle Company, with challenges including the building of 3D pyramids, and collaborating together to match coordinates to clues and locate the secret treasure in Smart Town. There were maths trails around the school, involving measuring and solving problems, a 3D Challenge, a year-group maths quiz, and time to create various patterns using a Vedic Square.

A 'Kew Green Rocks' times tables competition (using Times Table Rockstars) also took place throughout the week; we were so impressed by how many children took part!

The children were excited and active learners all week. Each year group worked confidently to indulge their creativity and develop important life skills such as lateral thinking, teamwork, resilience and perseverance.
