King’s Rochester celebrates GCSE results day 2021​

The last 18 months have been like no other but it has been so heartening to see pupils rise to the challenge, overcome so many barriers that have been put in front of them, and secure great outcomes at GCSE.

After a successful results day, our pupils will be going on to study a wide range of subjects at A-Level with many looking forward to embracing all that King’s has to offer in the Sixth Form from September.

With 35% of all grades at 9-8 (A*) and 58% of all grades at 9-7 (A*-A), pupils, there are many individual successes to celebrate and stories to tell.

Building on the success of last year, girls at King’s are continuing to excel at GCSE, with many of our highest performers being female. These include top sportswoman and musician, Ruth Ofulue, who achieved a wonderful 11 GCSEs all of which were at grade 9 and will be studying Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A Level. Jusleen Virdee who achieved 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 8 and will be studying Chemistry, History and Spanish at A Level. Araoluwa Ajayi who achieved 8 grade 9s, an 8 and a 7 and is looking forward to studying French, History and Psychology at A Level.

Marina Kromina joined King’s in Year 10 from Russia and quickly settled into life at King’s as a day pupil, seizing opportunities in Drama, Music and in the classroom. She achieved a sensational 9 Grade 9s and a Grade 8. She also took her Russian A-Level early achieving an A*. Marina is going on to study Computer Science, Politics, Maths and History at A Level.

Well done to international athlete, Gypsy Nash for her 5 grade 9s and will be studying Classical Civilisation, Drama, English and History at A Level and to

Selina Chen, who joined King’s from China, achieved 8 Grade 9s and an 8 and will be returning home for her future studies.

Not to be outdone, our boys have also performed exceptionally well and congratulations go to Thomas Allsworth (King’s Scholar) who achieved 8 grade 9s and two 8s and will study Computer Science, Economics and Further Maths in Sixth Form.

Nathaniel Rushton, a grade 8 tuba player and a member of the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, achieved 5 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and a 7 and is going on to study Maths, Further Maths, Latin and Physics.

Oliver Lister who has been selected to be Rochester Cathedral’s Organ Scholar for next year achieved 1 grade 9, 5 grade 8s and 5 grade 7s and is looking forward to studying History, Religious Studies, Politics and Music next year.

Their achievements are testament to their hard work and dedication after the most difficult of preparations. I am enormously grateful to the staff for guiding them through these last two years of study.
