King’s Rochester pupils have raised an outstanding £2650 for the bereavement charity Holding On Letting Go. Pupils presented them with a cheque during a special Chapel service at Rochester Cathedral.

On Thursday 12th September 2019, the Senior School charities committee at King’s Rochester celebrated the end of a very successful School year, fundraising for the local charity Holding On Letting Go. To raise money they had held quiz nights, open mic nights, ran a 5-a-side football tournament, sold Valentine’s Day treats and organised a fundraising Prom for Upper Fifth pupils.

Their hard work and commitment resulted in an outstanding total of £2650 being raised. Charity Co-ordinator for King’s, Miss Fran Lowe invited Caroline Gaskin from Holding on Letting Go to come and collect the donation during a special Chapel service in Rochester Cathedral, which focused on selflessness, a powerful quality to have in these ever changing times.

Caroline Gaskin said “I was honoured to collect a fantastic cheque on behalf of Holding on Letting Go from the pupils of King’s Rochester. Their funding will help support bereaved children and families across Medway and Kent. Huge thank you to you all.”

Mr Ben Charles, Principal of King’s Rochester said “This is a fantastic charity making a massive difference across Medway and Kent when families and young people need them most. I am glad that our pupils could help. Thank you to all at Holding On Letting Go for your amazing work.”
