Lord Wandsworth College pupils celebrated record-breaking exam success with their GCSEs, with nearly 87% of all grades awarded at 9-5, 53% of grades at 9-7 and a 94% pass rate, bursting past all academic records of the years before.

This is set within the framework of continuing transformational investment on the 1200 acre campus, as well as recent national recognition and awards for mental health and wellbeing initiatives and Outreach within the community.

With an inspirational new Science Centre ready by 2021 and the STEAM subjects continuing to flourish at LWC (90% of all grades achieved at 9-5 across the Sciences and Art), it is a joy to see Arts, Humanities and creativity also shining - English, History, Religious Studies, Latin and Music, with many nearing a 100% 9-5 score.

Amid a landscape of the national press claiming that grade 9s would be elusive, huge congratulations, in particular, go to Michael Clark (10 grade 9s), Jack Henry (9 grade 9s) Harvey Wilson and Hugo Donnelly (7 grade 9s). 15% of the pupils achieved straight 9 to 7 grades, winning 6th Form academic scholarships at LWC.

Headmaster, Adam Williams, said, “our GCSE pupils have set the bar incredibly high this year with a superb work ethic, academic curiosity, and a sense of enjoyment and creativity, being inspired to explore beyond the boundaries of their subjects. Their ability to identify connections and interrelationships will be invaluable as they take on the challenges of A Levels”.
