The Senior English Department at Manor House School, Bookham entered a number of applicants to the Rotary Young Writer's Competition and were absolutely delighted to take District Winning Place and Highly Commended!

In the first round of the Rotary Writing Competition, Manor House had winners in both the senior and intermediate sections as well as runners up and a large number of highly commended entries.

The judges provided general feedback as well as individual comments for every one of the 100+ entries (along with certificates).

The top three names in each section then went through to the district level of the competition (Atiya, Amelie and Veronika, plus Laila, Lauren and Eva) and we were delighted to receive further good news...

At district competition level, Lauren was chosen as the overall winner and will go through to the national final! Massive congratulations to Lauren. Additionally, we are extremely proud of Atiya's entry which was highly commended.

In a general comment, the competition judging panel said: “We are pleased to report that the standard of entries is still getting better, year on year. There is evidence of much original thinking, which is something that we have tried so hard to encourage. It is always a good idea to make your entry as appealing as possible. Well done to all girls.’
