Llandovery College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Dominic Findlay as new Warden commencing in September of this year. He will take over from Mr Guy Ayling who has been Headmaster for seven years and who moves on to Mount Kelly Independent School as Headmaster and Principal of the Foundation. Miss Anna Sandford, currently Deputy Warden at the College, will take over the reins as Interim Warden for this coming term.

A graduate from Exeter University, Mr Findlay is married with two children and has been a Headmaster for 14 years in two schools, the latter being at Langley School in Norfolk. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of developing rural recruitment, gaining membership of HMC, innovative sporting partnerships, quality boarding and pastoral care and outstanding Teaching and Learning practices. Very much a ‘people person’, Mr Findlay is passionate about positive outcomes both within and outside the classroom for every pupil.

Mr Findlay’s hobbies include all sports especially rugby, cricket and hockey, also travel, not to mention walking their springer spaniel Fraser!

During the forthcoming Trinity term, Mr Findlay is planning to make a number of visits to the College which will allow him the opportunity to meet with current, prospective and past pupils, parents and staff.

Of his appointment, Mr Findlay said: ‘I am hugely excited about being given the opportunity to lead Llandovery College into its next stage of development. On my recent short visits, I have been made to feel very welcome by the wonderful community both at the College and surrounding area. The College has an incredible heritage which I am keen to build upon, alongside providing outstanding opportunities for all its students within the beautiful setting of the Brecon Beacons.’
