Our congratulations go to Old Belmontian Sophia Dunkley who reached half a century on her debut in the Test match against India and went on to finish 74 not out, a fantastic achievement!

Sophia received her first full time England Cricket Contract earlier this month, and is the first black woman to play Test cricket for England.

Belmont Head, Mr Roberts commented: "Sophia joined Belmont in Year 7 in 2009. Back then we didn’t offer girls cricket as one of our major sports so Sophia played with the boys in the 1st XI team. The success of Sophia and other girls partly inspired us to introduce girls’ cricket as our main summer sport for girls five years ago and we have not looked back. Sophia went onto Mill Hill School and was one of the key players in their first XI. She is an inspiration to all of the Foundation pupils and we wish her well in her future England Career."

Congratulations Sophia from everyone here at The Foundation!
