Local independent day and boarding school in Bushey, St Margaret’s, is celebrating GSCE success during what has been a challenging year for young people across the country.

Despite this year’s Year 11 cohort being the first to sit official examinations since before the pandemic took hold, and with Year 13 having never sat an exam, St Margaret’s is proud to announce that 28% of students achieved grade 9’s in their GCSEs with 62% of students achieving grade 7-9 and a resounding 82% of year 11 students secured grades 9-6 in their GCSE subjects.

The school has also bid a fond farewell to many of its sixth form students who achieved phenomenal A level grades last week, securing places at top universities in some of the best institutions in the country.

Head at St Margaret’s School Lara Péchard commented: “It has been another challenging year for our students, yet they have shown courage, resilience and focus with their studies. Young people have had to adapt to the formality of exams again, with many having never sat an exam before and they should each be celebrated for their incredible success. This year we have seen students excel in their results, with many securing top grades. It has been a privilege to support this year’s cohort with their future pathways and we wish them every success for the future.”

Charlotte Harrison, Director of Sixth Form at St Margaret’s also spoke about the sixth form success: “I am supremely proud of all our A level students who have faced challenges like no other year group previously. To have been denied the opportunity to sit their GCSE’s and to have come out of the other side of A levels with some very impressive results, is to be commended. Many have secured places in top universities, and this is testament to their admirable work ethic and positive attitude to learning.”
