St Swithun’s Prep School U11s netball team are celebrating with gold medals after winning the IAPS regional finals which took place on Thursday 10 February on their home turf at St Swithun’s school. Competing against 19 schools, they played superb netball, progressing through all rounds of the tournament to beat Twyford in the final 7-3.

The U11s team have been on excellent form since the beginning of the academic year, winning virtually all their matches and tournaments.

In October of last year they played at Churcher’s College where they produced some outstanding netball to win the tournament 7-3 against Amesbury. This was followed by a tournament in November at Portsmouth Grammar School where they only conceded two goals the entire afternoon and went on to win the final 7-2 against St Ives.

In January of this year they played at Twyford School where they secured yet another gold medal. Eight days later they played at Bryanston School where they remained unbeaten in the group stages, but narrowly missed out on the medal to a strong Hoe Bridge side.

Team coach Katy Iliffe said: "I couldn’t be prouder of them. The girls have been totally dedicated and even instigated additional practice sessions. This is definitely a coaching highlight for me."

The U11s team will travel to Bryanston School where they will compete in the national finals in March.
