Our Approach

At Maltman's Green we believe in the pursuit of excellence with a sense of fun. Girls are inspired to do their best inside and outside of the classroom through an ambitious and dynamic curriculum, extensive extra-curricular opportunities, a nurturing environment and dedicated staff. We prepare girls for the modern world through a relevant, adaptable and innovative approach that is supported by a foundation of traditional values. Our girls are given every opportunity to succeed across multiple disciplines, fostering confidence and self-belief, and empowering them for whatever future awaits.

We believe that the emotional, social and physical wellbeing of our girls is paramount. By providing a personalised learning experience in an encouraging and nurturing environment, we ensure our girls feel happy, confident and valued - a perfect foundation from which children can flourish.

Games and The Arts

Our sports provision is an outstanding feature of the school, with dedicated facilities and daily lessons. All girls enjoy friendly tournaments between houses and within year groups where those with the talent and inclination can progress to squad level to compete locally, regionally or nationally, usually with exceptional results.

Music is a very important part of life at Maltman's Green. Specialist teaching, exceptional facilities and lots of choice give our girls plenty of opportunity to explore and showcase their musical talents. Many of our girls participate in various choirs and we have a wide choice of musical instrument lessons available as well as a variety of instrumental ensemble groups to join. Drama too has a big part to play in school life where regular performances and workshops give girls a strong sense of confidence and creative expression. Our dedicated performance space with high-quality staging, lighting, costumes and props give our shows a professional feel.

Achievements

Our girls are encouraged to be independent thinkers, to challenge themselves and to always try their best. Maltman's Green provides a firm foundation, preparing girls to face senior school and beyond with confidence, determination and a lifelong love of learning. This is reflected in our impressive Bucks Secondary Transfer Test (11+) results, 81% qualification rate for 2021/22, and twenty scholarships awarded to Independent Senior Schools. This, combined with our girls’ impressive achievements across sport, music and drama, affirm our position as one of the foremost prep schools in the country.

Outstanding Characteristics

Our rigorous approach and excellent teaching were highlighted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) at their most recent inspection in February 2022, when Maltman's Green was awarded "excellent" in all areas - an outstanding achievement. "The quality of the pupils' academic and other achievements is excellent. Pupils of all ages and abilities make excellent progress over time because of the systematic use of the assessment framework in planning for individual needs. Pupils' linguistic and other mathematical skills are outstanding, and pupils apply these with great confidence to other areas of learning. Pupils demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning when the curriculum creates opportunities for them to develop independence in their learning. Pupils readily think for themselves and acquire higher-order thinking skills which they instinctively apply to all areas of learning."
