Our Approach

At Maltman's Green we believe in the pursuit of excellence whilst maintaining a sense of enjoyment. Girls are inspired to do their best inside and outside of the classroom through an exceptional academic curriculum and extensive extra-curricular opportunities. We prepare girls for the modern world through a relevant, adaptable and innovative approach that is supported by a foundation of traditional values. Our girls are given every opportunity to succeed across multiple disciplines, fostering confidence and self-belief, and empowering them for whatever future awaits.

We believe that the emotional, social and physical wellbeing of our girls is paramount. By providing a personalised learning experience in an encouraging and nurturing environment, we ensure our girls feel happy, confident and valued - a perfect foundation from which children can flourish. This ethos has been recognised by the ISI who applauded our "outstanding" pastoral care.

Games and The Arts

Our sports provision is an outstanding feature of the School, with dedicated facilities and daily lessons. All girls enjoy friendly tournaments between houses and within year groups where those with the talent and inclination can progress to squad level to compete locally, regionally or nationally with exceptional results.

Music is a very important part of life at Maltman's Green. Specialist teaching and excellent facilities and lots of choice give our girls plenty of opportunity to explore and showcase their musical talents. Over 100 girls participate in our various choirs and we have nine different musical instrument lessons available as well as a variety of instrumental ensemble groups to join. Drama too has a big part to play in school life where regular performances and workshops give girls a strong sense of confidence and creative expression. Our dedicated performance space with high-quality staging, lighting, costumes and props give our shows a professional feel.

Achievements

Our girls are encouraged to be independent thinkers, to challenge themselves and to always try their best. Maltman's Green provides a firm foundation, preparing girls to face senior school and beyond with confidence, determination and a lifelong love of learning. This is reflected in our impressive 11+ results - an 80% pass rate in 2018 - and a record number of scholarships being awarded to Independent Senior Schools. This, combined with our girls' impressive achievements across sport, music and drama affirm our position as one of the foremost prep schools in the country.

Outstanding Characteristics

2018 marks our 100th Anniversary and, since the School was founded in 1918, we have seen numerous developments and upgrades to our facilities, including dedicated subject classrooms, a 6-lane, 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a multi-use gymnasium, a state-of-the art theatre space and a dedicated 2-3yr olds day-care centre. This excellent suite of facilities is complemented by our highly committed, well-qualified and experienced body of staff who enable us to provide an outstanding and unique breadth of challenging opportunities for our girls. Maltman's Green has only ever seen seven headmistresses. The current headmistress, Mrs Pardon, has been in post since 2005 and is the 3rd longest serving head. Such seamless and passionate leadership means that we can look confidently to the next hundred years with every expectation for the continued success, development and happiness of our girls.
