On Friday 24 March, the Churcher’s College Sports Hall came alive with Ukrainian music as the ‘Two Colours Choir’ took to the stage for a charity concert. The emotional rollercoaster of an evening was compèred by actor Hugh Bonneville and Churcher’s pupil, Jane, one of the Ukrainian children at school here supported by the Richard Churcher Foundation. The evening raised funds for much needed ambulance support in Ukraine.

Guests enjoyed folk and modern Ukrainian songs and were able to hear the stories of a Ukrainian evacuee family who were interviewed by Hugh Bonneville.

Hugh explains: "I was privileged to take part in this wonderful evening of entertainment at Churcher’s College, raising funds for a medical evacuation vehicle. Special thanks to the school, the organisers and especially to the Ukrainian Women’s Choir, whose stunning performance celebrated their shared culture and their desire to live at peace in their homeland once again."

Some thoughts shared by the Petersfield’s Ukrainian Community: “We dream of a peaceful spring 2023 in Ukraine, when the whole world comes alive after the winter, millions of families reunite in their safe homes, children and adults recover from the terrible wounds and traumas. But now, the war is still on. And we have a lot to do to help those who suffer the most. The utmost goal is to save their lives.”

All money raised from the event will be sent to the Ukraine Christian Partnership to raise funds for an armoured medical evacuation vehicle. There is an urgent need for these vehicles and funds raised will help to save many lives.
