Historic sporting success for Heath Mount School

Heath Mount Prep School in Hertfordshire is celebrating the extraordinary success of three of its netball teams. In the space of a couple of weeks, the school saw its U12 and U13 teams placed first nationally in the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) National Finals. The U11 team was also placed third in the country. Heath Mount is the only Prep School since 2017 to be placed in the top three nationally in three age categories in the same year and we believe has only been achieved by one other prep school since 2005.

This fantastic result is the culmination of four years of dedication and training with our exceptional coaching team led by Miss Sophie Meister (Netball One's National Teacher Of The Year 2023) and assisted by elite netballer and Saracens player Miss Caitlin Rump, our sports graduate and boarding assistant.

Heath Mount's U12 netballers became the school’s first ever team of national champions in the IAPS Netball Finals at Oundle School. They beat previous winners Twyford in the quarter-final before facing Millfield in the semis which they won by two goals to gain a place in the final against Bromsgrove. The final result was 9-8 to Heath Mount.

The U13 team travelled to Millfield to compete in their IAPS final. They beat Winterfold House 15-5 in the quarter-finals and Brighton College in the semis before facing Bishops Stortford College in the final which they won 17-14. Our U11 team were also placed third nationally after winning the bronze medal game 8-5 against Warwick.

Cross Country Success

Year 5 pupil William S has also achieved national success this term by becoming the National Primary Schools' U10 Cross Country Champion! The competition features the best runners from both State and Private Schools across the country and William finished at least 50m ahead of the pack in very challenging conditions. William trains with Heath Mount’s cross-country squad as well as his running club outside of school and is also a talented footballer. He is currently training with Crystal Palace F.C. and would like to be a striker in the future.
