Upper Sixth Former Rosie Botham has released her brand new E.P. “Blue Sunday” worldwide today. It is available on all streaming and download platforms including Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Music.

It is the Churcher’s College Record Label Ramshill Records’ fourth release to date and has been a team effort, including musical help from the following talented students:

Rosie Botham – singing, song writing, piano

Barney Emmens – bass guitar and help with mixing the tracks

Elizabeth Turner – wrote the string quartet arrangement and played violin

Frances Flannagan – violin

Ryan Wilkinson – viola

Halcyon Sheen – cello

Charlie Morris – drums

James Coni – guitar

Gus Tranter – keys

A percentage of the profits from the E.P. release will be donated to Salisbury Burns Unit, a place close to Rosie’s heart.

‘Wounded' was her first song written when she was 15 after seeing a consultant there who performed surgery on her a decade after a burn she suffered when she was 5 years old. The care she received at Salisbury Burns Unit was such a positive experience for Rosie that she decided to write a song about it and use the proceeds to donate back to them.

Rosie said:

"I am so delighted to finally release my EP! I have always enjoyed singing and developing lyrics around a piano, inspired most notably from Adele with her ballad-like storytelling but also by Tom Misch.

The Churcher’s College Ramshill Recording Studio has certainly provided me with the opportunity to express my love of music and I have learnt so much about recording a song. The process usually starts with a basic piano melody and lyrics. Once these have been recorded, we will start to incorporate other instruments into the song, usually rehearsing for a couple of weeks until we are happy to record. Through hearing all of the recordings together, we can then edit the volume of each instrument, add reverb to the vocals, fade instruments gradually in and out for example, until we are all happy with how the song sounds.

This whole process has been a great experience as I have not only gained knowledge of how to set up recording equipment and how to edit music, but I have also been provided with a unique opportunity to release my own songs.”

We hope you enjoy listening and sharing!
