'Swimming the Channel' for MacMillan

Posted on 18th Jun 2019 in School News, Fundraising

On 1 September 2019, OC Pippa Williams will be swimming the length of the Channel (22 miles) continuously in the Churcher’s College swimming pool to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Her aim is to raise approximately £1,000 for the charity and will be swimming 1452 lengths to cover the 22 miles.

Pippa said, "MacMillan do a phenomenal job of not only supporting the person with cancer, but also their family and peers. It’s amazing what extent they go to, and I would finally like the chance to give something back to them. Water has always been my element since I was young, and when thinking of a way I could give back to MacMillan, some sort of swimming challenge seemed appropriate! Someone threw in the idea of swimming the channel distance, and that just kind of stuck!

Thank you to all those who have supported me so far! I really appreciate it and thanks to you guys, I am already half way towards my goal!! However, I’ve still got a long way to go and so, please please please, if you haven’t had a chance yet and have some spare pennies lying around, then I would really appreciate the donation! Every little bit helps and it’s for such a phenomenal charity!’
