Dauntsey’s has announced another impressive line-up of speakers for the 2017/18 programme of its renowned Mercers’ Lecture series. The Mercers’ Lectures are named in recognition of the links between Dauntsey’s and the Mercers’ Company, which go back to Mercer founder Alderman William Dauntsey, Master of the Worshipful Company of Mercers, who founded the School in West Lavington in 1542.
A group of Lower Sixth pupils and staff from Dauntsey’s has returned from a visit to the Romanian town of Cernavoda to support Nightingales Children’s Project. Over a period of 10 days the pupils worked with local street children and orphans, ranging in age from six months to 24 years, to run a week-long play scheme.
Dauntsey’s Hockey Coach and Head of Academic PE, Jimmy Devney, rounds off his first year at the School with an exciting ladies’ hockey tour to Malaysia with a squad of 20 girls.
Dauntsey’s has announced the winners of the 2017 Richard Sandbrook Award, which is open to current and past pupils aged 18-25 who are planning a trip, project or research which promotes sustainable development.
Dauntsey’s has enjoyed another stunning athletics season, with eleven pupils being selected to compete for Wiltshire in the forthcoming South West Championships, six of whom were Wiltshire County Champions at the recent County finals competition.
A pupil from Clifton College Prep School in Bristol has won Dauntsey’s annual Dodecahedron Competition.
